De Galluchat name Payes tribute to Jean-Claude Galluchat, who made bespoke pieces for the king Louis XV in France. Today the brand represents the only luxury goods house in the world, that offers capsule collections of accessories and jewellery with a focus on fine shagreen leather. De Galluchat brand was born from the collaboration with the Hotel de Crillon in Paris located at the Place de la concorde. From handcrafted jewelry, bags and shoes to veneered home and office accessories we bring together contemporary design with the traditional craftsmanship. As opposite to fast changing trends and standardization, our desire for the timeless and natural preciousness epitomize all De Galluchat pieces. The simplicity of design is often contrasted with refinement of textured shagreen. Each and every piece shall become the treasure of their owner passed to the future generation. The term Shagreen was coined in the Victorian era and it referred to the skins of shark which had been tanned in a shade of green. Although the skins were thin the surface was extremely hard wearing which accounts for the many fine examples of craftsmanship that have survived.
